Maps & Itinerary
Similan Islands National Park
Covering an area of over 140km², Mu Koh Similan National Park comprises 11 islands in total including Koh Bon and Koh Tachai. Dive sites on the western side of the islands reach depths of 40+ metres and feature giant granite boulders creating canyons, tunnels, swim-throughs, archways and caverns that are prone to strong and often unpredictable currents. East-facing sites are mostly sheltered, fringing reefs with gentle slopes ranging in depth from 5-25 metres and predominantly made up of hard coral.
Richelieu Rock
This limestone pinnacle is possibly the most well-known of Thailand’s dive sites. Barely visible from the surface, this horseshoe-shaped outcropping boasts prolific and diverse marine life with stunning soft and hard corals playing host to an abundance of colourful reef fish and macro delights.
Surin Islands National Park
Comprising 5 islands in close proximity to each other, the reefs and outcrops of the Surin Islands archipelago offer some of the greatest hard coral diversity in Thailand. Marine life includes 4 species of turtles, reef sharks, leopard sharks, blue-spotted rays, moray eels and much, much more.
Koh Haa National Park
With a name that translates as Five Islands, these amazing islands offer numerous dive sites where you can discover a wide variety of large and small marine life as you explore pinnacles, walls, boulders, caverns, and swim-throughs.
Hin Daeng & Hin Muang
These two isolated pinnacles are best known for manta ray and whale shark encounters. Almost perpetual good visibility and dramatic topography, combined with huge numbers of fish, make for excellent liveaboard diving.
Koh Lipe
This beautiful, pristine island near Langkawi Island and the Malaysian border harbours some amazing dive sites. As some of these are very exposed, strong currents are common and should be expected.
Your cruise director will schedule up to four dives per day; 3 day dives and, where possible, either a sunset or night. This totals approximately 26 dives over 7 days of diving. Each full diving day is typically scheduled as follows:
- Light Breakfast followed by a briefing and dive 1
- Full Breakfast and relaxation period
- Briefing and dive 2
- Lunch and relaxation period
- Briefing and dive 3
- Snacks and relaxation period
- Briefing and dive 4, where possible
- Dinner
For last day’s diving, there will usually be 2 morning dives before Thailand Master commences the cruise to port ready for disembarkation the following morning.
The itinerary above is an example only and is subject to change depending on local regulations and restrictions, guests’ experience, weather conditions and logistics, and is at the Captain’s discretion. Adverse weather can affect this route which includes several overnight sailings.
PLEASE NOTE: In some cases, the Best of Thailand itinerary may be split into separate Southern Thailand and Similan & Surin Islands itineraries to accommodate guests who are not able to do entire duration. However, this simply means that some guests may embark or disembark as the vessel passes Chalong, and does not impact on the areas visited or the total number of possible dives.
