Abundant marine life
Suitable for all divers
Diving the Eastern Banda Sea’s remote islands is only possible by liveaboard. The region stretches from Nusa Tengarra in the south to Raja Ampat in the far north with Ceram Island at the centre. Dotted in between are the tiny islands of Lucipara, Banda Neira, Gungung Api, Manuk and Nila. The Eastern Banda Sea is a diving area that offers a wide diversity or sites and sights.
Maps & Itinerary
This 12 night liveaboard scuba diving itinerary takes you to the remote Eastern Banda Sea starting from Saumlaki and the area surrounding Yamdena Island, then following the Banda Arc north and eastward to Kaimana and Triton Bay.
Highlights of scuba diving in the Eastern Banda Sea include volcanic islands, pristine reefs and pinnacles, steep walls and drop-offs, ‘Too Many Fish’ at Koon Island, sea snakes around Manoek, and muck diving with mandarin fish as a bonus. Plenty of schooling fish and pelagic sightings can be expected around many of the islands and, if you’re lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, there’s even the possibility of seeing some hammerhead sharks.
In Triton bay, you can witness incredibly diverse and colourful soft corals reefs and, if you’re lucky, you might even spot an occasional whaleshark. We also offer interesting land excursions include Banda Neira & the spectacular Sanggala Bay waterfall.
On a typical day we offer up to 4 dives: 3 day dives and a fourth sunset or night dive. The diving day is scheduled as follows:
- Light Breakfast followed by a briefing and Dive 1
- Full Breakfast, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 2
- Lunch, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 3
- Snack relaxation period, briefing and Dive 4, where possible
The itinerary outlined above is an example only and may be subject to change depending on local regulations, guests’ experience, flight schedules*, weather and logistics and is at the Captain’s discretion. Adverse weather can affect the Eastern Banda Sea itinerary which includes several overnight sailings.
*Please be advised that domestic flights in Indonesia are often subject to delays, schedule changes and cancellations which can result in missed connections and / or late embarkation. We strongly recommend that you make arrangements to arrive at Saumlaki the day before your itinerary’s embarkation date. Please refer to the Trip Information document and Indonesia Travel FAQs, or contact our reservations team for further advice.
