It is an understatement to say The Bahamas is world famous for shark diving; however, there is so much more! The Bahamas has the third largest barrier reef area in the world and covers a vast 470.000km2 of sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Consisting of 700 islands and cays, it’s not hard to imagine the variety of dive sites on offer: wrecks, walls, caves, blue holes and, obviously, sharks!
You are likely to come up close and personal with some, if not all of the following, depending on season and your chosen itinerary: Caribbean reef sharks, lemon sharks, nurse sharks, bull sharks, tiger sharks, great hammerheads, and oceanic whitetip sharks. There are very few places in the world where you can see this many species in one area!!
It’s not all about sharks though; liveaboard diving in The Bahamas offers many other exciting experiences, including Hollywood movie locations, King Kong’s Blue Hole and Pig Beach. The Bahamas has something for everyone!
Diving with tiger sharks, reef sharks, and lemon sharks in The Bahamas is pretty much the norm, and there is also a good chance to see great hammerhead and bull sharks.
